The microwave and oven also have working doors, making this kitchen set as close to real as a child’s toy can be.  To add to the excitement and feel, there are even clicker knobs above oven door and the burners on the stove make real electronic cooking sounds. The stove and even towel rack look realistic in the mock chrome finish. For additional interactivity and realism, the refrigerator also has doors that open into an inside that is designed like a real one.  This added feature allows for more real life play, where toy food can be stored inside and taken out when she is ready to prepare a meal.

The Little Tikes Prep ‘n Serve Kitchen is certainly far beyond any toy kitchen I had to play with as a child. First of all, when I was growing up, a lot of toys, especially kitchen sets and tables were made of wood. Plastic wasn’t as utilized back then as it is today. Yes, I am a 1960’s baby! This playset, as most other products manufactured by Little Tikes is truly state-of-the-art in children’s play. It is subtly colored in creams, powder blue, and brown – not bright, over stimulating colors that many other toy companies tend to manufacture. This toy kitchen will make even the most finicky little girl happy.

Features of this ultra-modern toy kitchen include an island peninsula, faux granite counter tops and appliances with the look of real stainless steel. Because it is made of durable plastic, it is easy to clean with a damp sponge – part of every good cook’s job description! Although it is a little tight, there are small cabinets and shelves to store the cooking utensils, dishes, pots and pans, and groceries. Of course, your children will need to cook, store, and clean her kitchen, and this lovely set-up comes with an oven, refrigerator, and microwave oven. In fact, this Little Tikes kitchen comes with more appliances than most apartments! But wait – there’s more! I am the grandmother of a toddler who is ready for a big boy’s bed, so  I decided to shop around for a bed made by Little Tikes.   My first inkling is to choose the Thomas & Friends™ Train Bed because his parents got him interested in trains at a very young age. They have a steam engine DVD which simply mesmerizes him. He is very alert to the sound of a train as well. When we play outside and he hears a train in the distance, he immediately calls out, “train!” I might add that he does the same thing with planes, helicopters, trucks, vans, and motorcycles. The trouble is that Little Tikes doesn’t make a bed out of any of those machines.

Several months ago, my grandson used do the same with the word – car, but I guess he just see so many of them that he would be exhausted if he continued. He does like Jeeps too, but I don’t think that I could fool him into thinking that any of the Roadster™ Little Tikes  beds or sports car beds is a Jeep. However, he still may really like one of them. He might like the idea that he has a car, just as his parents and his Grammy each have one. Nah, he is too smart for that. If I told him that, he would look at me from the corner of his eyes and then burst out in laughter. Although he is only a little bit past two years old, he already has a good sense of humor, or at least I make him laugh! Come to think of it, I make a lot of people laugh too. People tell me that I have a very expressive face, and sometimes my feelings come across quite plainly, and according to general consensus, sometimes very humorously. However, at this age, little tikes such as my toddler sometimes take it as a cue to carry on – pressing it to their advantage.
